Nike ha in programma vari progetti prima del lancio inaugurale del marchio “Kobe”, in vista del Mamba Day 2023.
L’iconica linea di scarpe Nike di Kobe Bryant è infatti pronta a tornare.
Come confermato dal CEO della Nike, John Donahoe, il marchio è destinato a dare il via alla prossima fase dell’eredità del Black Mamba nel basket, e sembra che il 10 agosto avremo un primo assaggio di ciò che verrà.
Vanessa Bryant ha infatti annunciato che l’azienda inizierà a rilasciare nuove scarpe. In particolare, la prima sarà la Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Halo”, completamente bianca.
Questo teaser rivela soltanto una silhouette da basket low-top, segno distintivo della linea “Zoom Kobe signature“.
Non si può determinare molto altro sulla base di questo teaser ma “the newest shoe” potrebbe anche suggerire una nuova colorazione di una sneaker già esistente.
Secondo Nike Basketball, la scarpa sarà svelata durante un segmento di SNKRS “Live From The Archive” il 10 agosto (solo in Nord America), mentre un conto alla rovescia suggerisce un’uscita il 23 agosto (giorno del compleanno di Kobe).
Nike ha inoltre anche accettato di rilasciare anche dei capi di abbigliamento in onore di Gigi Bryant, la figlia di Kobe e Vanessa che era tra le 9 persone morte nell’incidente in elicottero del gennaio 2020.
Questa sarà la prima uscita con il nome Kobe da quando il contratto della leggenda dei Los Angeles Lakers è scaduto nell’aprile 2021.
Nike e l’eredità di Kobe hanno raggiunto un nuovo accordo di licenza nel marzo 2022, che consentirà al marchio di rieditare gli 8 modelli realizzati durante la carriera di Bryant, oltre a 6 uscite dopo il suo ritiro nel 2016.
La scarpa firmata da Kobe è stata la più popolare della NBA per anni, con il merito di aver reso comune la low-top.
Circa il 70% dei giocatori della NBA indossa scarpe Nike durante le partite, con circa il 45% che hanno indossato Kobe per almeno una partita da aprile 2021 ad aprile 2022, secondo Aaron Dodson e Nick DiPaula di Andscape.
