Ja Morant ha annunciato che sarà presente al training camp dei Memphis Grizzlies, lasciandosi così del tutto alle spalle l’infortunio al ginocchio destro e successiva operazione, che gli avevano fatto saltare la partecipazione alla Summer League 2019
La scelta numero 2 al draft NBA di quest’anno non sarà sola al training camp: i Grizzlies hanno confermato che anche Kyle Anderson, Dillon Brooks e Jaren Jackson Jr. sono recuperati e sono guariti dai loro rispettivi infortuni.

Non solo buone notizie però per la squadra allenata da coach Taylor Jenkins, che dovrà fare a meno del nuovo acquisto De’Anthony Melton a causa di un infortunio alla schiena che lo terrà fuori dai campi di gioco per uno o due mesi. La franchigia che l’anno scorso arrivò al 12esimo posto della Western Conference difficilmente riuscirà a a fare meglio il prossimo anno dato che le altre squadre si sono rinforzate parecchio con giocatori già pronti, e quindi punterà di certo all’acquisizione di una scelta alta per il draft 2020.

Nonostante ciò, l’obiettivo dei Memphis Grizzlies è quello di sviluppare al meglio i due giocatori più promettenti del roster, Ja Morant e Jaren Jackson Jr. per fargli trovare la giusta chimica.
Il prodotto di Murray State viene da una stagione sensazionale NCAA in cui ha viaggiato a una media di 24.5 punti, 10 assist (nessuno meglio di lui) e 5.7 rimbalzi a partita.
Non male anche le sue percentuali al tiro, 49.9% dal campo che, prestazione per una point guard notevole, così come anche il 36.3% da dietro la linea dei 3 punti. Jaren Jackson dal canto suo viene da una stagione piuttosto solida con 13.8 punti a partita messi a referto e con tanto lavoro difensivo (1.4 stoppate di media).
I tifosi dei Grizzlies si augurano di trovarsi di fronte il nuovo duo del futuro, e chissà che non lo possa davvero diventare.
