La serata appena trascorsa, per i Los Angeles Lakers, è da dimenticare dal primo all’ultimo minuto di gioco. Il più in fretta possibile, potremmo aggiungere. Nel giorno dell’anniversario degli 81 punti in una sola partita di un certo Kobe Bryant, la franchigia giallo-viola subisce la sconfitta con il più ampio margine della sua storia contro i Dallas Mavericks, battendo così il “record”, in senso negativo, della dèbacle contro gli Utah Jazz lo scorso marzo. Nel post gara, i vari protagonisti in casa Lakers hanno commentato la pesante batosta, a cominciare dal coach Luke Walton:
“Onestamente non siamo scesi in campo per giocare, il che è molto frustrante. E’ imbarazzante per la squadra, per noi come organizzazione e per i tifosi dei Lakers che sono sempre stati troppo buoni con noi.
A questo punto il nostro obiettivo non è scendere in campo e cercare la W. Si tratta di giocare con un certo stile che ci consenta di vincere mentre cerchiamo di costruire il nostro gioco. Si tratta di fare sempre meglio e sfruttare ogni nostra partita come se fosse l’ultima.
Sono contentissimo di questo gruppo di ragazzi e so per certo che dalla prossima partita prenderemo di mira l’obiettivo, ma stasera purtroppo non sapevamo chi fossimo. È stato frustrante”.
Sempre alla fine del match, dopo le dichiarazioni di coach Luke Walton, hanno parlato anche Jordan Clarkson, Brandon Ingram e Julius Randle, che hanno confermato l’insoddisfazione del coach per la prestazione contro i Mavs, dichiarando di essere pronti a cercare il riscatto già dal prossimo match.
Questa sconfitta rappresenta per i Los Angeles Lakers la sesta nelle ultime sette partite, quattro delle quali perse con uno scarto in doppia cifra, inclusa l’umiliazione di ieri contro i Mavericks e il “cappotto” da -40 subito contro gli Spurs. Ma più che i freddi dati numerici, a far preoccupare coach e tifosi deve essere l’atteggiamento visto: spesso in ritardo sui recuperi, (a parte qualche raro caso) molli, in certe fasi egoisti. Si: lavoro da fare ce n’é, così come talento da cui partire.
