I movimenti in casa Brooklyn Nets continuano: dopo l’arrivo di Jamal Crawford, Michael Beasley e Donta Hall, la squadra della grande mela sta per firmare anche Lance Thomas. Il 32enne aveva partecipato al training camp prima dell’inizio della stagione, ma i Nets non gli hanno offerto nessun contratto.
Contratto che nessuna squadra NBA ha offerto a Thomas, che non ha giocato durante questa stagione. Il giocatore può comunque vantare una discreta esperienza in NBA, in cui ha giocato per ben 8 anni in diverse franchigie (Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder e New York Knicks). Il nativo di Brooklyn ha sempre avuto poco spazio, mettendo comunque su numeri di tutto rispetto: 5.2 punti e 2.6 rimbalzi in 392 gare disputate.

Ma il motivo per cui i Nets stanno per firmare Lance Thomas è la questione Orlando: tra infortuni e giocatori che non hanno dato la loro disponibilità per giocare nella bolla, sono 7 i giocatori di cui deve fare a meno Brooklyn. Oltre agli infortunati Kevin Durante, Kyrie Irving e Nicolas Claxton, sono ben 4 i giocatori che si sono rifiutati di giocare nel Walt Disney World Resort di Orlando. Stiamo parlando di Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan, Taurean Prince e Wilson Chandler.
Si era parlato molto anche di Justin Anderson, che sembrava essere lui il quarto ed ultimo colpo. Non è ancora chiaro però se il giocatore che ha indossato la maglia dei Long Island Nets, squadra della G-league, possa ancora diventare un giocatore dei Nets per questo finale di stagione. Tutto dipende dai membri della squadra, nel caso in cui qualcun’altro dovesse rinunciare alla bolla di Orlando.
I giocatori infatti hanno la libertà di scegliere se giocare o meno, soprattutto per una squadra che non chiede niente a questa stagione come i Nets. Gli uomini di coach Jacque Vaughn quindi possono sentirsi ancora più “liberi” di prendere una decisione di questo genere.
