Kyrie Irving non vuol sentire parlare di riposo nonostante la lunga assenza ed il sempre insidioso back-to-back, ed è in campo al Wells Fargo center di Phialdelphia contro i 76ers per la sconfitta per 117-106 dei suoi Brooklyn Nets.
Cattiva serata di tiro però per Irving, che chiude con 6 su 21 dal campo per 14 punti ed un “mostruoso” -29 di plus\minus, e vede i Sixers rimontare e segnare 33 punti nel quarto periodo, contro i soli 16 dei Nets. Spencer Dinwiddie chiude con 26 punti e 8 assist, Caris LeVert dalla panchina gioca 23 minuti e segna 12 punti (4 su 10 al tiro), Jarrett Allen ci aggiunge una doppia doppia da 17 punti e 10 rimbalzi.
Dall’altra parte, senza Joel Embiid è Tobias Harris il condottiero in attacco per i Sixers (26-16): l’ex Clippers segna 34 punti con 10 rimbalzi, doppia doppia anche per Ben Simmons (20 punti e 11 assist). Philadelphia chiude con il 51.7% al tiro e concede appena il 26% dal campo ai Nets nel quarto periodo: “E questo è stato un problema per noi per tutto l’anno“, spiega coach Kenny Atkinson “C’è un trend negativo, abbiamo giocato bene per tre quarti e creato dei buonissimi tiri, abbiamo attaccato tanto il canestro ma abbiamo raccolto poco“.

Il trio LeVert-Dinwiddie-Irving? L’ho provato ma non ha funzionato oggi, va detto. Abbiamo bisogno di più tempo per capire come farlo funzionare, partita dopo partita vedremo. Ieri (martedì contro i Jazz, ndr) ci sono stati buoni momenti, oggi no. C’è da lavorarci su

Nets che con Kyrie Irving in campo (l’ex Celtics ha saltato ben 27 partite consecutive) sono con la sconfitta di Phiadelphia oggi 5-9: “Si tratta di rimanere integri. Tutto qui, chissà cosa può capitare in una stagione, io devo approfittare di ogni occasione per fare del mio meglio e guidare i ragazzi. E’ chiaro a tutti che qui manca un pezzo importante della squadra, ma di certo non può essere una scusa“.

Io continuerò a dirlo, faremo del nostro meglio con gli uomini che abbiamo a disposizione, e del resto parleremo a fine stagione, in estate. Quello che ci manca per competere ai massimi livelli è sotto gli occhi di tutti, ma è una situazione che conoscevamo sin da subito, qualcosa per cui abbiamo firmato in estate. Oggi, DeAndre (Jordan, ndr) si è fatto male, Garrett temple era fuori, abbiamo in gran collettivo ma è chiaro che ci serviranno altri rinforzi attorno a me, Spencer, Caris, Temple, Jordan e Kevin Durant, quando tornerà
DeAndre Jordan ha rimediato un infortunio alla mano destra, e le sue condizioni verranno rivalutate nei prossimi giorni. Con la sconfitta di mercoledì, i Nets (18-22) restano comunque all’ottavo posto nella Eastern Conference.
