Venerdì sera ripartirà la regular season e diverse franchigie si stanno attrezzando per rinforzare le proprie panchine. In questi 2 mesi dall’inizio dei playoff, i cosìddetti “panchinari” avranno un ruolo importante per l’ultima parte della corsa alla post-season.
Proprio per rinforzare il roster, i Toronto Raptors, hanno firmato la guardia ex Washington Wizards Jodie Meeks, per 10 giorni (secondo Adrian Wojnarowski di ESPN). Sull’esempio dei canadesi, si sono mossi anche i Knicks con un doppio colpo: a New York sono arrivati John Jenkins e Henry Ellenson. Per il primo si tratta di un contratto biennale, mentre l’ex Detroit Pistons starà solo 10 giorni con il team di coach David Fizdale (fonte Shams Charania).

Meeks il rinforzo che completa la panchina dei Toronto Raptors
Meeks è alla sua decima stagione NBA, nelle quali ha realizzato una media di 9.3 punti tirando con il 41,8% dal campo e il 37.2% da oltre l’arco. Il 13 aprile 2018, il 31enne del Tennesse è stato sospeso per 25 partite per aver violato il programma antidroga della NBA. Il 15 ottobre, la franchigia di Washington ha scambiato Jodie con i Milwaukee Bucks, che poi lo hanno rilasciato il 24 novembre.

Mentre Ellenson avrà difficilmente molto spazio nelle rotazioni dei Knicks, Jenkins potrebbe ritagliarsi un ruolo importante. L’ex Suns, è approdato in una franchigia in ricostruzione e che sta lasciando molto spazio ai giovani. Il vero problema per John potrebbe essere il fatto che nel suo stesso ruolo, nel team newyorkese, ci sono diversi giovani di gran prospettiva (come Dennis Smith Jr, Emmanuel Mudiay, Allonzo Trier, Damyen Dotson e Frank Ntilikina).
