A quanto pare, “Michael” Jordan Poole sta per fare il suo ritorno.
Il numero 3 dei Golden State Warriors ha ricominciato a mostrare qualche sfumatura del se stesso di fine stagione 2021/22, quando ha conquistato la NBA, guadagnandosi il soprannome sopra citato.
E questa sembra proprio essere una grande notizia per il team che, stando alle ultime notizie, dovrà fare a meno proprio di Stephen Curry per almeno due settimane, e che si è dovuto privare anche di Andrew Wiggins.
Poole ha tirato fuori il meglio di sé nella partita di questa notte contro i Toronto Raptors, raggiungendo un career-high da 43 punti, accompagnato da un 14 su 23 al tiro, che ha portato gli Warriors a vincere per 126-110.
Poole è stato di gran lunga il miglior giocatore in campo di questa notte. Ha segnato 10 punti nel primo quarto, mentre i successivi 15 nel secondo, per portare gli Warriors sul +14 all’intervallo.
E, per non farci mancare nulla, la brillantezza di Poole ha contribuito ad alimentare il dominio offensivo di Golden State, che ha tirato con un 53.1% complessivo dal campo, e realizzato 18 triple, limitando Toronto ad un 42.1% di realizzazione al tiro.
“È stata una bella sensazione” ha detto il diretto interessato. “Stavamo parlando proprio di questo in panchina, durante la partita. Alcuni tra i veterani hanno registrato molte partite da 39 punti. È stato bello superare i 40, ma è stato ancora meglio ottenere una vittoria in trasferta. Finora non siamo stati particolarmente bravi fuori casa, quindi speriamo che questo ci dia una spinta per continuare così”.
Il capo allenatore degli Warriors, Steve Kerr, aveva confessato di non apprezzare moltissimo la poca pazienza di Poole nel tirare, e nello scegliere i tiri giusti. Ma il 23enne questa notte ha fatto entrambe le cose ad un livello elitario.
Poole è riuscito a trovare l’equilibrio perfetto tra pazienza, aggressività ed efficienza, riuscendo così a gestire lo spettacolo e a controllare il ritmo della partita.
“Ha giocato molte ottime partite per noi” ha dichiarato coach Kerr. “Quindi se questa non è la migliore, è sicuramente una delle migliori, perché è stato bravissimo su entrambi i lati del campo. La sua difesa è stata eccellente e penso che sia stato paziente offensivamente. Ha semplicemente dato il giusto tono alla partita”.
