Altra importante assenza in vista dei Mondiali FIBA: Alexey Shved della Russia non volerà per la Cina a causa di un infortunio alla caviglia.
Shved ha subito una rottura parziale della fascia plantare. Tale infortunio richiede tempi di recupero di almeno un mese, costringendo la stella della nazionale russa a dare forfait per la rassegna mondiale.
A dare conferma dell’assenza di Shved è stato il Khimki Moscow, club di appartenenza dell’ex giocatore dei New York Knicks..

Dopo Milos Teodosic dunque, anche un altra star è costretta a dare forfait a causa di un problema al piede.
Impossibile contenere la delusione per la mancata partecipazione ai Mondiali, in cui Alexey Shved sarebbe stato uno dei leader della nazionale di coach Sergei Bazarevich.
“Non potevo immaginare che non avrei partecipato ai Mondiali. Sono molto triste. Durante l’estate ho lavorato ad un programma individuale. La caviglia mi ha mi ha dato fastidio, ma stava migliorando e mi aspettavo che avrei avuto il tempo di riprendermi in modo da unirmi alla nazionale. Sfortunatamente non ho superato i test fisici, i dottori non mi hanno autorizzato ad allenarmi. Ho immediatamente chiamato coach Bazarevich. Capisco che la squadra contava su di me”, ha detto Shved.
I Mondiali FIBA si svolgeranno dal 31 agosto al 15 settembre. La Russia è stata inserita nel girone B, nel quale affronterà Argentina, Corea del Sud e Nigeria.
